The dose-response risk of MetS incidence caused by 5 U/l of ALT elevation was significant in overall and gender-specific evaluations after adjusting for GGT level as another potential liver enzyme also associated with incident MetS [51] (RR: 1.14, 95% CI: 1.11–1.17 in overall population; RR: 1.13, 95% CI: 1.10–1.16 in males, RR: 1.38, 95% CI: 1.20–1.55 in females; all of the enrolled gender-specific RRs were evaluated after adjusting for GGT level; Figure 5).
