Consistent with a positive role in tumor progression, expression of the short LAMA3 isoforms, which is multiply controlled by the transcriptional co-activator EP300 [46], along with the transcription factors AP-1 [47], CREB1 [48] and USF1 [49], is increased and portends a dismal prognosis in head and neck cancers [50].
