It has been suggested that influence of TRAIL-R2 or TRAIL-R1 is a common response to treatment of cancer cells with compounds identified in propolis such as chrysin, apigenin, kaempferol, quercetin, or artepillin C. Chrysin and apigenin reverse TRAIL resistance in MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells, HT-29 colon cancer cells, HepG2 hepatocellular cancer cells, SK-MEL-37 melanoma cells, and Capan-1 pancreatic cancer cells via increased expression of TRAIL-R2 and decreased expression of FLIP [43]. This evidence concerns the gene TNFSF10 and cancer.
