AKT1 and cancer: Further investigation of PI3K/Akt pathway participation in regulating cell growth, apoptosis and invasion revealed that cancer cell growth was suppressed (Figure 3) due to cell growth arrest in G1 phase (Figure 4C and E) (i.e., DNA duplication was inhibited); increased apoptosis capacity (Figure 5C and E) and decreased invasive capacity (Figure 6C and E) were observed.
