The findings of tumor infiltrating CD8 and CD4 immune cells in the tissues from relapse-free patients is consistent with earlier reports on the reduction of CD8+ (Zlobec et al., 2008) and CD4+ cells (McMillan et al., 1997; Holcombe et al., 1999) as highly predictive of local recurrence of CRC while their presence associated with longer recurrence free survival (Holcombe et al., 1999; Chew et al., 2011; Muthuswamy et al., 2012). The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is neoplasm.
