Interestingly, previously published studies of patients with myeloid leukemia and acute lymphocytic leukemia have shown a deregulation of serum cytokine and chemokine profiles including higher levels of CCL2 and IL-8[43-46] and in myeloid leukemia elevated levels of CCL2 and IL-8 were associated with an unfavorable prognosis[43-45]. The gene discussed is CXCL8; the disease is myeloid leukemia.
