Tulobuterol inhibits superoxide anion (O2−) production by neutrophils and eosinophils (Yasui et al. 2006) and reduces the number of eosinophils in the sputum of asthma patients (Hozawa et al. 2009), although the levels of IL-8 in the induced sputum are not reduced in COPD patients treated with tulobuterol (Kanehara et al. 2008). Here, CXCL8 is linked to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
