TXN and infection: This was evident in the present study by increased expression levels of several fungal transcripts during infection encoding ROS-scavenging proteins including peroxidases, Cu2+/Zn2+ superoxide dismutases, glutathione S-transferases, hydroperoxide reductases, thioredoxins and peroxiredoxins as well as other stress-response proteins like cyclophilins and heat shock proteins (Table S1).
