Treatment of stroke with Niaspan significantly increases Angiopoietin-1 (Ang1) expression in ischemic brain which promotes vascular stabilization and maturation [17], decreases brain hemorrhage and BBB leakage in T1DM rats by reducing the pro-inflammatory factors [18], [19], and promotes vascular maturation and stabilization, which in concert improves functional outcome after stroke [18], [20]. This evidence concerns the gene ANGPT1 and stroke disorder.
