Granzyme B has been found to be elevated in the lungs of people with asthma after allergen challenge.41,42 To directly address the importance of granzyme B in NK-cell mediated allergic inflammation, NK cells from granzyme B deficient mice (gzmb−/−) were adoptively transferred into NKG2D-deficient mice to determine if the allergic phenotype would be restored. This evidence concerns the gene GZMB and asthma.
