Analyses of histological changes in the heart are shown in Figure 1D. In all three groups, there were significant increases at 48 weeks compared to 16 and 24 weeks in the following parameters: cardiomyocyte diameter (p < 0.05 vs. 16 and 24 weeks) (Figure 1D-a), cardiac fibrosis (p < 0.05 vs. 16 and 24 weeks) (Figure 1D-b), and number of ED-1 positive cells (p < 0.05 vs. 16 and 24 weeks) (Figure 1D-c). Here, EDA is linked to fibrosis.
