Given the marked increase in serum adiponectin induced by T-cadherin deficiency in mice [24, 43], along with observed reductions in pulmonary T-cadherin expression induced by allergic airways inflammation [43, 46], it is also possible that asthma itself interferes with the ability of serum adiponectin to report events occurring in adipose tissue.
