Subsequent studies have shown that Sam68 cooperates with proteins that promote the inclusion of the v5 exon of CD44 alternative splicing, such as the splicing activator SRm160 [106], the chromatin remodeling protein Brm, which seems to be required for the binding of Sam68 to the RNAPII (RNA polymerase II) [107], or more recently, SND1, which also recruits Sam68 together with other factors to the pre-mRNA of CD44 in prostate cancer cells [108].
