GPT and Cirrhosis: Based on the European Association for The Study of the Liver (EASL) Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG)[10], treatment for CHB is recommended for: 1) patients with elevated ALT when there is clinical evidence of moderate to severe active necroinflammation and/or at least moderate fibrosis on liver biopsy; and 2) patients with normal ALT levels in the presence of compensated cirrhosis and detectable levels of HBV DNA.
