The result of pooled effect for rs9939609 genetic variant of FTO gene with overweight/obesity risk in our meta-analysis (OR=1.35; 95%CI: 1.27-1.44) was similar with previous overall result of rs9939609 by Peng et al. (OR=1.31; 95%CI: 1.26-1.36)[9], but was also similar with that of rs17782313 (or its proxy) near the MC4R gene, another obesity susceptibility gene, in children reported by Xi et al. (OR=1.26; 95%CI: 1.19-1.33)[53]. Here, FTO is linked to Obesity.
