In humans, susceptibility genes for age-related maculopathy (ARM), a photoreceptor degenerative disease associated with microgliosis, map to the same region of human chromosome 10q26 as the RGS10 gene [28,29], suggesting that loss of RGS10 may predispose an organism to neurodegenerative disease. The gene discussed is RGS10; the disease is neurodegenerative disease.
