NOS3 and diabetes mellitus: In subsequent analyses stratified by levels of BMI, homozygosity for the NOS3 894T allele in white obese individuals was shown to be significantly associated with an increased risk for diabetes when compared to the most common GG genotype (OR = 1.47, p = 0.02), while no variation in susceptibility with genotype was found for white individuals whose BMI <30 kg/m2 (Table 3).
