TF and myocardial ischemia: Low iron status, particularly in the early stages of follow-up, was associated with increased risk of death from IHD, but the limited range of biomarkers of iron status (serum iron, transferrin saturation, and total iron binding capacity) were measured in non-fasting blood samples, and it is possible that low iron status was a late sign in the pathogenesis of IHD or that underlying disease influenced the results.
