NLRP6 and colitis: Of note, Nlrp6−/− mice had an increase in the phylum Bacteroidetes family Prevotellaceae as described in Figure 2B. The increased inflammation and colitis seen in Nlrp6−/− mice was attributed to the presence of Prevotellaceae, and these colitis-conferring bacteria could be transmitted to co-housed wild-type mice leading to enhanced disease.
