To study whether the absence of FHL2 inhibited the activation of macrophages in general or the observed effect was specific for BLM-induced lung damage, we isolated peritoneal macrophages from WT and FHL2-KO mice, stimulated them in vitro with lipopolysaccharide (LPS), BLM or lung lysate, and analysed them for activation markers. The gene discussed is FHL2; the disease is Bloom syndrome.
