Unlike the PNPLA3 148M variant which increases the risk for cirrhosis as well as HCC [23], the CXCL1 rs4074 polymorphism did apparently not infer an additional risk for HCC, since frequencies of the CXCL1 A allele in the alcoholic cirrhotics with and without HCC did not differ significantly. This evidence concerns the gene PNPLA3 and Cirrhosis.
