We recently characterized candidate T. brucei TZ components, including trypanosome orthologs of MKS1 and MKS6,4 which are subunits of a large (TZ-located) MKS complex (MKS (MIM249000), also known as Meckel-Gruber syndrome, is a lethal autosomal recessive ciliopathy) (39, 40). The gene discussed is CC2D2A; the disease is Meckel syndrome.
