An intriguing finding was the localisation of CRT to the rim of ORO-positive myelin fragments (confirmed in a human MS tissue sample, see additional file 2) and the punctate or ‘patchy’ nature of CRT staining seen when tissue was dual-labelled with CRT and GFAP or IBA1 (Figure 4i and j).
