A further investigation on whether the peptides resulting from orogastrointestinal digestion of OM contained IgE-binding epitopes revealed that two regions of the protein, that is those within the residues 80-89 and 133-180, were recognized by more than 70% of the allergic patients studied, while from 40 to 70% of the patients recognized two other regions, 36-61 and 100-122 (Figure 5). The gene discussed is IGHE; the disease is ocular melanoma.
