Combining all cases of pulmonary TB, smear positive pulmonary TB was associated with a significantly higher serum hepcidin level at cohort enrollment than smear negative TB (15.9 nM [13.1–21.9 nM] vs. 5.3 nM [4.1–5.5 nM] nM; p = 0.003). Here, HAMP is linked to pulmonary tuberculosis.
