Zhang et al. reported that a 3 Hz/picosecond electromagnetic pulse can apparently inhibit growth of cervical carcinoma Hela cells by raising intercellular Ca2+ concentration, inducing apoptosis, and increasing Bax protein expression while decreasing Bcl-2 expression (thus significantly increasing the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio) [7]. This evidence concerns the gene BAX and cervical carcinoma.
