As the role of FGF in atherosclerosis is much less documented than its role in restenosis, we checked the presence of FGF and its receptors in atherosclerotic lesions of apoE-deficient mice and found high expression of FGFR1 and the FGFR ligands FGF1 and FGF2. This evidence concerns the gene FGFR1 and atherosclerosis.
