Early reports implicated VEGFR-3 exclusively in the process of lymph vessel production (lymphangiogenesis), but more recent studies have shown that this receptor for VEGF-C and VEGF-D (but not VEGF-A) is expressed both in tumor lymph vessels and in tumor endothelium in a variety of malignancies [32–34]. The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is neoplasm.
