In patients with primary breast cancer the overexpression of EMT-inducing transcription factors (TWIST1, SNAIL1, SLUG, ZEB1, and FOXC2) was more frequently detected in those who received neoadjuvant therapies, than in those who did not, which suggests that neoadajuvant therapy is unable to eliminate CTCs undergoing EMT [35]. The gene discussed is SNAI2; the disease is breast cancer.
