αvβ6 has not been extensively investigated in prostate cancer, but is implicated in progression of a number of other cancers including gynaecological, head and neck and colon adenocarcinoma, where it has been shown to promote invasion and metastasis through activation of MMPs (in a similar manner to αvβ3) and activation of TGF-β1 [103]. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and prostate cancer.
