There are reports on germ-line polymorphisms and other variants in EGRF. To explore the association between germ-line polymorphisms of the EGFR and the lung cancer susceptibility, Jou et al. genotyped 14 SNPs in EGFR and found that a SNP 8227G>A (rs763317) showed statistically significant difference between lung cancer patients and control subjects, and the AA genotype of 8227G>A polymorphism had a significantly increased risk of developing lung cancer compared with the G/G genotype (OR 2.40, 95% CI 1.34–4.33) [89]. The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is lung cancer.
