As several aspects of tumor growth and invasiveness depend on the transcriptional activation of diverse sets of genes regulated by HIF-1, the hypothesis that CBD antitumor effect might be accompanied by the modulation of HIF-1α expression was tested in U87-MG and T98G cells under experimental conditions that cause HIF-1α stabilization, namely exposure to 50 μM CoCl2 or 1% pO2 for 24 h. The gene discussed is HIF1A; the disease is neoplasm.
