The expression decrease of the transporter of butyrate Slc5a8 associated only with the Mlh1 heterozygosity (1.5 and 1.7 fold in WD* and AIN groups, respectively), whereas Socs1, a cytokine signaling regulator, was significantly down regulated (3.1 fold) only if both risk factors were present, i.e. in the Mlh1+/- WD* group. Here, MLH1 is linked to Wilson disease.
