PLA2G2A and asthma: Taken together, the studies with animal models and human tissues discussed above, appear to suggest that since several tissues and cell types take part in the pathophysiology of asthma and related airway conditions [9], [36], it is plausible that the disease development requires a combined (likely sequential) action of more than one essential PLA2 - from different cell types - and blocking one of them would significantly attenuate the disease.
