In the study by Yamazaki et al, although the CRP level in periodontitis patients tended to decrease with improvement of the periodontal condition following treatment and approached that of the control subjects, this decline was not statistically significant [22].The results of the present study reinforce the observations of the previous studies indicating that periodontal disease is associated with elevation in serum CRP & TNF-α level. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and periodontitis.
