Such observations led us to conclude that disulfiram could be used in conjunction with other conventional chemotherapy agents to establish a combination protocol designed to exploit the complementary actions of both: disulfiram could suppress the ALDH-high, therapy-resistant CSC population, while conventional anticancer agents could target the disulfiram-insensitive, ALDH-low tumor cells in an additive and/or synergistic manner.
