Using these results, a stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that age (β = 0.02, p <0.001), hs-CRP level (β = 0.08, p = 0.013) and E/E’ ratio (β = 0.02, p = 0.034) were significant determinants of carotid atherosclerosis in non-diabetic CKD patients, even after adjustments for other well-known CV risk factors (Table 3). Here, CRP is linked to carotid atherosclerosis.
