Other researches have also shown inhibition of tumor proliferation, survival, and metastasis by pentacyclic triterpenoids [23, 24]; our data not only verify the potential role of oleanane-type triterpene saponins in prevention and therapy of cancer specifically in hepatocellular carcinoma cells via the inhibition on the COX-2/PGE2 pathway but also show that triterpene saponins investigated in the present work have higher apoptotic activities verified by lower IC50 value which might be due to the C-3 position glycosidic chain's polarity [25].
