SNP rs13438494 (c.15289-683A>C), which is reported to be significantly associated with bipolar disorder in a recent meta-analysis of GWAS [13], [14], is located deep in intron 24 of PCLO. Despite the fact that introns comprise >90% of the sequence of a gene, most reported mutations are located in exonic sequences. The gene discussed is PCLO; the disease is bipolar disorder.
