This anti-HIV-1 vector displayed complete protection from productive viral infection and integration of multiple HIV-1 strains upon transduction into HIV target cells in vitro (233) NOD-RAG1−/−IL2rγ−/−mice [immunodeficient mice carrying mutations in the recombination activating gene-1 (Rag1null) and interleukin (IL)-2 receptor common gamma chain (IL2rγnull)] were engrafted, with CD34+ HSCs and transduced with the anti-HIV vector described above.
