FCGR2B and infection: Whereas conflicting reports occur as to the role of FcR-dependent mechanisms in protection against P. yoelii rodent malaria [18, 19], IgG antibody-dependent FcR activity has been shown to play an important role in control of infections by Plasmodium berghei XAT [20] and P. berghei, transgenic for the PfMSP119 [21], whereas the inhibitory FcγRIIb/CD32b is reported to affect Plasmodium chabaudi parasite clearance and disease outcome [22].
