INS and Insulin resistance: This study’s major results in non-diabetic AI are: (i) reduced insulin sensitivity with higher circulating concentrations of glucose, insulin, and C-peptide during OGTT, (ii) increased insulin secretion and beta-cell function, (iii) diminished hepatic insulin extraction, (iv) negative association of insulin sensitivity with peripheral insulinaemia, but (v) C-peptide-derived Adaptation Index comparable to that of CON that shows a normal capacity of compensating for insulin resistance by augmenting insulin release.
