When models were constructed to compare only the effect of glaucoma on Aca23 mutants and their WT controls, Aca23 had significantly higher numbers of cellular and cross-section lamellae (20.9 and 21.5) than Aca23-WT (11.1 and 14.8) in peripapillary sclera (both p=0.01), as well as fewer longitudinal lamellae than Aca23-WT (6.2 versus 8.9, p=0.04). This evidence concerns the gene SNORA23 and glaucoma.
