The combined results based on all studies showed that the IL-8 -251A > T polymorphism was associated with the risk of gastric carciongenesis (A vs. T: OR: 1.14 [1.02, 1.26], P = 0.02), especially gastric cancer (A vs. T: OR: 1.15 [1.03, 1.29], P = 0.02), but not associated with the risk of precancerous lesion (A vs. T: OR: 1.09 [0.99, 1.20], P = 0.08). This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and gastric cancer.
