Previous studies have demonstrated that herba centellae may reduce the expression of renal tissue connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) in unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) rats, inhibit the expression of TGF-β1 in tubular epithelial cells in vitro, and maintain the expression of bone morphogenetic protein-7 (BMP-7). This evidence concerns the gene CCN2 and Ureteral obstruction.
