Albuminuria, a widely used surrogate biomarker of renal damage, has been previously demonstrated to be decreased by treatment with MR antagonists in patients with nephropathy (Sato et al., 2003; Epstein et al., 2006) and rodents with renal impairment (Blasi et al., 2003), supporting its modulation by aldosterone.
