NFASC and Alzheimer disease: Indeed, increased levels of phosphorylation, either at endogenous or at novel NF phosphorylation sites (Liao et al., 2004), are a relatively early event in the pathogenesis of human AD (Wang et al., 2001; Rudrabhatla et al., 2010) and transgenic models (Vickers et al., 1994; Yang et al., 2009).
