Although the inhibitory receptors PD-1, Tim3, 2B4, and CTLA-4 are upregulated in HCV-specific CD8+ T-cells in CHC patients [18–24], the mRNA expression of these receptors was not significantly changed in global CD4+ or CD8+ T-cells of CHC patients, suggesting that the inhibitory receptors do not contribute to global T-cells dysfunction during chronic HCV infection. This evidence concerns the gene CTLA4 and cryohydrocytosis.
