In an inducible krasV12 transgenic zebrafish model [15] with a high incidence of HCC formation, liver tumorigenesis has been shown to be suppressed by the inhibition of the Raf-MEK-ERK and PI3K-AKT-mTOR pathways using PD98059, LY294002, and rapamycin. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
