PLA2G7 and atherosclerosis: Indeed, in a systematic review, Hamirani and colleagues reported that concentrations of a number of inflammatory mediators, including CRP, fibrinogen, metallic metalloproteinase-9, monocyte chemotactic protin-1, resistin, lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2, interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and beta-fibroblast growth factor, were positively correlated with atherosclerosis [25].
